Gerb NWIA - 12/11/2025 21:34 Same thing here. I just got tired of having field borders killed and then needing to keep the weeds out the rest of the summer.

The few times I've done conventional corn I've bought a few bags of RUP corn to plant around the edges to do two things, give me a buffer from the neighbors and give me the option to spray RUP around the borders if so desired to keep the perennial grasses from creeping in.    With a CCS planter that really isn't too hard to do, but you'd have to start with the meters empty on every field.

I never had a real regret from planting conventional corn (it yielded good enough), but I'm also old enough to remember farming when there wasn't anything other than conventional seed and RUP killed everything it touched, including corn and beans.    It just took more time/messing around than I wanted to continue with.

It does comes with some challenges though, especially if trying to do continuous corn and facing CRW pressure.
