I plowed an 80 of wheat stubble with manure spread on it two years ago. Did soil sample on it this fall. Came back high in almost every nutrient test (boron being the only low test) and had an OM of 5.3%. Add on top of that the reduced waterhemp pressure and more low lying acres being farmable due to deep tillage and actually producing bushels, id say rhe plowing did more good than harm
