I've always been told that Pioneer gets first choice of what they want. Even if that's true Corteva is testing hundreds if not thousands of potential hybrids every year. Some really good ones are bound to slip past Pioneer or be so similar to something they already have as to get passed by.


Many inbred lines are double haploids, and most likely tested on the same testers, you could be splitting hairs picking hybrids. Many companies will generate a pile of double haploid lines from the same two parents.
