SC Kansas | I’d say go for it. You know your needs and soil best. Do some of your own small scale trials and learn a lot. I tend to agree with you. There’s a LOT of variables from field to field and region to region. IMO the seed technology has done WAY more than the actual farm practices in raising yields. Organic matter is another interesting variable. We farm next to a rural church cemetery. One year just for curiosity I pulled some soil samples from the cemetery. As far as anyone knew it is still virgin ground. The field across the fence had been in production since the late 1880s. Organic matter in those samples were the same. It took millions of years to build those soils and to think a few years here or there are going to make huge differences is just human arrogance. My 2 cents. Probably not even worth that much. | |
