WNY
Glad to know there are other people in the same mindset. My daughter shows in alot of jackpot shows as well as our county fair and the amount of overpriced club calves I see are ridiculous. Something about rolling into a show with a $20k heifer on a $45k trailer just annoys me. As far as I am concerned clubby animals or whatever you wanna call them are overpriced mutts that are bred to appeal to this new era of "show quality" I'd rather show a nice purebred or nice cross cow, heifer, steer with good genetics. Can't say ive ever heard someone look at some dumb ass club calf and say "man I bet he will grow out and make some nice steaks and burger"

It is defiantly a good thing for the kids. They learn good sportman ship, hard work, and meet alot of other likeminded good people. You dont need a $10k heifer to win showmanship in a show, its all about putting the work in with your animal.
