Northeast, Nebraska | There are a lot of changes coming to the carbon credit programs. Unless you are grandfathered in, or the company you are signing up for, has a contract that was done before the rule changes, all new contracts moving forward have to be a minimum of 5 years. All carbon credit payments will be based on measured increased carbon in the soil. I know this because the company I work for wanted to start a program for our customers so we could help them get more money for using our products. Turns out they passed new set of certifying rules in September. Apparently Trumps big beautiful plan allowed the purchasing of carbon credits for industry to not be mandatory anymore so now there isn't as much demand in the United States like they were planning so they are now turning their attention to the global market and the global market wants proven credits. I think this is going to be a big kick in the balls to the carbon market. I just heard yesterday that the ICROA is closing down in 2026. | |
