| We had high nitrates on a field of forage barley. We use a lot of manure for our fertilizer and haven’t bought any commercial fertilizer for ten years.
I came across some literature that says sulfur can help the plant better convert nitrogen to protein and can be a cure for high nitrates. I know this ground can use some sulfur anyway (probably on an annual basis). Same literature says to apply 10 to 20 units of sulfur and that should fix the problem. I could always use more phosphorus as well as our main cash crop is alfalfa. However, I’ve never felt like organic phosphorus was a good investment for the money.
I know 20 units isn’t enough to go through a buggy. Any suggestions on what I could use as a carrier? | |
