| Long story short- we ended up making balage out of some Haymaker barley in the very early boot. This ground is super fertile and this forage barley was already beginning to lodge. Nitrates were through the roof.
We are going to be planting more forage barley this coming spring on another nearby highly fertile field. If I can get the barley to late boot prior to cutting am I still likely to have nitrate issues? Would a different variety help? | |
