North Central Illinois | What is Garvo's rule of thumb 100 bu of corn and $100 to take a feeder to fat. That's roughly $500 cost with current cash corn. So a $2500 feeder plus $500 means that you had $3000 at the start (or borrowed that). If you sell that at $2000 you lost $1000.
If you can buy back the next steer at $1000 you should still have enough capital to do so, but it'll take 10 years of $100 per head profit to make back the previous loss.
