Saronville NE | I guess i look at it differently. But we feed cattle differently than most too. Im a bottom feeder i guess you can say. It takes time but is profitable. I never buy a big group. Buy lots of 1-2-3-5 etc they pulled off because of color not right weight etc. Keep adding sell in load lots 6 months later. On avg im usually $200 a head back of larger groups and when sell in load lots im usually on $5 back of the big groups of all blacks. Thats how we basically make money every year. Ive never been able to pencil a profit on buying big fancy groups because thats what feedyards want. So i make load lots of colored cattle and then feedlots will buy.
Do 500-700 hd a yr this way. Sell 7-8times a yr. | |
