Depends on somewhat on what you are feeding, bunch of dry beef cows is way different then feeding a bunch of steers out, seeding year, yes hay costs money, but spread that out over 5-10 years, figure 6-7 most of the time, put Potash, Boron and Sulfur on $100-150/ acre a year if not getting much manure, maybe some
DAP if low in Phos. , but about 2/3 of our farm never sees a fertilizer spreader where we out-winter/bale graze once every 5-7 years.
