What did you plant with? 18k total pop or adjusted for 60" rows? Im curious what it wouldve made with a full seed rate, but even so, 180bu at 18k is still darn good. Did you have to get a nitrogen sample from the covers? If nothing else, say you get 2 ton of extra forage an acre, because they probably wont eat all of it, thats an extra $100-150/ac worth of feed alone.  

I think things like this are what those of us in the fringe acres are going to have to start looking at going forward and looking at things in say a 3 year total ROI way, if a guy could grow a bunch of N in the 60" strip, and use it plus the extra grazing to offset the dip in yield dollar wise, you may end up with more money over 3 years than normal COC every year, you may miss out a little on the years when corn hits $7 but long term youre better off.
