China had canceled all soybeans purchases and squeezed its supply of rare earth minerals which are essential for the production of a whole range of technology such as solar panels, electric cars and military equipment.
Trump said he would cut tariffs on imports from China to 47%, down 10% points. In exchange, Chinese leader Xi Jinping agreed to resume purchasing soybeans and to delay restrictions on rare earth minerals for a year.
So far, to sum it up, USA farmers had lost $12B in Chinese soybean purchases and now China just made a one time purchase of $72M.
