NW Indiana | You bring up an excellent question "so what did this meeting accomplish?" To take it a little farther what has been gained for agriculture in any of this trade war? If everyone strips back their own politics ag has lost so that likely answers your last couple of sentences about the future. What does ag do if China continues to go to SA and even at a more rapid pace? Are we facing a farm crisis like the 80's but the writing isn't on the wall yet because we are currently in the late 70's when most were doing very well for themselves? Or are we really about to get China to slow down trade with SA by purchasing a meaningful increase of US ag products that is about to create the next ethanol boom sending land and many other things much higher? It would be hard to bet on the later because that would go against free market fundamentals with SA having lower COP but with the massive trade deficit a true trade agreement with teeth could actually override that. | |
