You are correct that the price spreads can be substantial. Wife and I both drive vehicles with the old 5.7 Toyota engine. Even with the higher price spreads it still pencils to run ethanol free gas. Before my 5.7 I had a 5.3 Chevy. With that engine the price spread had to be very minimal to pencil out running non ethanol gas.
What blend of ethanol were you comparing against non-ethanol gas? What mileage were you seeing with each fuel?
