 | I’ve been having very good results with strip-tilling my soybeans between the corn rows and planting on 30” rows, compared to no-till drilling beans into bare stalks, terminated, or green cereal rye and broadcasting fertilizer. I believe, from what I’ve seen, the advantage of fertilizer in the root zone and better emergence from a worked strip, outweighs the potential disadvantages of wide rows. But, I’m always trying to plant them as early as conditions allow. After early to mid-May, I’d probably still do narrow rows.

I’ve seen 7-10 bpa advantage 3 years now. We’ve had average springs and overall rainfall, but dry late-season since I’ve started this practice.

On beans, I’m applying around 150 potash and 150 MESZ, VRT each separately.
