Good choice.
You’re behind the 8 ball on this one though. The problem is the navel was recently connected to the bladder and the liver among over places with large vessels. The infection may have ascended to those organs as well as being a “navel” infection only.

Then there’s the joints that frequently receive a shower of bacteria.

It all depends on if the calf got adequate colostrum and just got a local infection in the navel or if it didn’t get adequate colostrum and the navel is just the most obvious and accessible place that’s infected.
