Subject: RE: JD 8310 slow to engage park

SW MN
Complaint:

Park brake will not engage.

Possible PCU codes 013, 024, 025

Problem:

Ground speed park control valve stuck, after transmission rebuild. May occur when reassembling transmission case. Improper torquing can cause ground speed park control valve to bind in manifold.

Solution:

Tighten rear cover and manifold to transmission cap screws gradually to 125 Nm (92 lb-ft) using criss-cross pattern shown in TM1575.

Important:

Park brake will come on after shutdown of unit due to leak-down of pressures, but not for some time. Towing tractor with park brake on, will damage park brake.

Additional Information:

Tractor must be separated to remove ground speed park control valve. Some transmissions may need to be disassembled to remove stuck valve. Valve and valve bore can be cleaned and reused if not scored.

Note: This valve should be checked prior to a transmission being installed back into the tractor, after being rebuilt, to make sure it is free in the manifold.
