Subject: RE: Where's the Beef?

East of Broken Bow
Have a neighbor who liked to deer hunt, and couldn't tolerate 'wasting' the meat, but like many of us could only eat so much of it.
So, he started having Chili cook outs, would make a Huuuuuuuuge pot of Chili, invite all the neighbors, and even had a stack of storage containers if anyone wanted to take any leftover chili home with them. Did this a couple times, usually had a pretty good crowd as neighbors liked to get together, but the chili never disappeared very fast until the end of the party. After a few years he stopped doing it. Partly because his wife got sick and doing all the organizing and such was too much for her, and partly because he said he had to spend too much on beer to get the crowd 'happy' enough to eat his deer chili.

I'm with you guys, nothing 'wrong' with deer, but it just isn't beef.

Or even pork or chicken (in my book).

Now on the other hand, I know a lady with food allergies who can't eat anything with any kind of additives. Can have only organic or all natural meat, so she eats a lot of venison. Glad to have her as a freiend, as ehe'll take whatever parts of the deer I don't care to eat - win-win for both of us.
