ECIL | It doesn't need waterproofed, does it? If so, the best way is to spray 2 in of closed cell foam from the footing all the way up to grade insulating and waterproofing at the same time. We also did the inside walls from the floor to the floor joists. It's amazing what that will do for stable temps and even humidity to some degree.
We have a geothermal unit that the previous owner did not order in with heat strip backup because he had a newer gas boiler in the house. In the winter we run that a little as well and the basement is the best place in the house to be! No drafts and warm! (Of course, I keep the thermostat upstairs at 63-65, so that feels a little chilly to most. The kids complain about that some!:)
BTW, there may be some chicken litter showing up NE of your farm place in the next few days, hope it's the dry stuff and doesn't stink you out while you're working out there. | |
