Subject: RE: Medicare vs. Private insurance

West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12
Our two adult special needs sons have Medicaid funded health insurance. The Medicaid negotiated price is more often than not far less than my wife and mine BCBS private insurance negotiated price for similar services. That's why many healthcare providers don't accept Medicaid patients and we have to travel further to find certain healthcare services for our sons. And sometimes the "quality" of the healthcare Medicaid pays for is substandard to what private health insurance will pay for. Two good examples are eye glasses and dental care in our sons cases. So we just forgo Medicaid and pay for most dental care for our sons out of pocket so we can use local providers. The government issued glasses frame selection has dramatically improved over the years so glasses are no longer an issue.
