NW Iowa | We worry about planting corn a certain depth in the spring for good germination and then in the fall we see volunteer corn growing that was sprinkled on top of the dry ground with no incorporation. I haven’t walked in one of these fields to check the rate of germination, it’s probably 25 percent or less but it sure does make the field look green. One of these fields situated a mile south of me has a thin streak of heavier green going across the field in every combine pass. Either the head was leaking or an elevator clean out was leaking or it was coming out of the fan or? | |
