Western Oregon | I have had a '52 Chevy pickup that I bought when I was 13. Paid $35 for it. Mom had a '48 Chevy car that she bought used from the local doctor because she needed a car for her new teaching job and there was a long waiting list for a new one. The doctor could get one sooner being on a priority list. Dad wanted her to have a better car and bought her a '52 with an automatic. She hated it because it did not get good mileage. She finally got the car of her dreams, a brand new 1959, 235-6 and 3 on the tree with overdrive. Lot better mileage and a lot more room, "a Chivy that drove like a Cadillac". She always called them Chivys. I put that engine, transmission and rear axle in my pickup for highway speed. Changed front hubs to 5 lug too....James | |
