Subject: RE: govt paying to keep heifers

North Central Kansas
So this is what will happen.
Govt says pays you X amount of money to retain heifers. So people start buying up 300to 500 weight heifers to have on their lots, to get this $. They hold on to them over winter, feed em, then they get to 800, 900 lbs and still no $. Producer is going, I can't keep these, or no one wants this many replacement heifers.. and KAPOW the slaughter houses are swarmed with potloads of heifers to cut up and ship to walmart. So much hamburger on the shelf for the 4th of July meat price drops in half! The city folks are excited! They can buy that new 1/2 pickup they need to haul their lawnmower around in, or go the the lake or get 4 bags of potting soil from menards. The $ at the sale barn drops 50%, and now the cattle guys are sucking hind tit like us grain farmers are right now. Thats my prediction
