Subject: RE: govt paying to keep heifers

bharzman - 9/24/2025 16:56 There was TALK of this at the sale barn today. When I googled I must have missed it or not googled the right thing. Has anyone here heard of this? The theory I guess is to keep them at home vs going to feedlot. Thus we can get more cows in the lots, and rebuild the heards faster. The govts way of trying to lower meat at the grocery store

No idea if it’s true or not but what its going to amount to is more govt $’s to try to correct a problem that was created by govt $’s.

Maybe a better solution would be less govt involvement in agriculture.

Cut CRP significantly (both $’s per acre and no whole farm signups, buffers/sensitive acres only) and quit incentivizing tearing out pasture for row crops.
