South Central Iowa | Is hay going to remain cheap for a few more years? At least a couple. It'll be hard to pencil new equipment and infrastructure with good hay bringing $40-60/bale. Cattle prices high, be the time to pull the trigger, but the hay savings will not pay for the changes currently. Where they still shine is using cheap feed stuffs to stretch a ration. But a couple bales of grass hay, a good bale of alfalfa, and a little corn when needed is going to be hard to beat for a while. | |
