It’s been a ruff season the past 3 weeks. 3-4 weeks to go yet. Hoping to avoid a freeze. Think we crossed 30k tons yesterday. Not sure on how many acres we have covered but the corn is hit and miss. Lots of tipped back ears and tassle wrap, heavy hail. Lots of corn recovered from being blown down. Just part of ranching where it’s windy all the time. It’s the first time in MANY years we have actually chopped 30 ton corn so that was nice to see again. We were supposed to demo the new Claas chopper but we haven’t gotten it yet. Sounds like it’s a monster of a machine. The down side is all 3 heads would have to be new. The 990 heads wouldn’t adapt from what it sounds like.

I bought a lightly used aeroswint chain floor this spring to replace my old trailer. I’ll have to say I’m definitely impressed by it if anyone is looking for a recommendation. Most of our group is moving away from MAS and going to Hitchcock. Might stick with aeroswint for now. Kinda the same thing as a Hitchcock but with heavier floor and drive chain. Kicking those 35 ton loads off with ease. Had 42 on in green corn and still was okay. That’s way to heavy but in a pinch I’m glad to know it will push it off.
