| Cotton seed is used mainly for its protein content. So soybeans are the most direct competitor. But the level of processing comes into play as well as protein content, in how it needs to be priced to compete. I am not up to date on cottonseed processing, but it use to have something called gossypol in the seed toxic to pigs and other animals. Cattle seem to handle it ok. I believe gossypol can be reduced by the way it is processed. But college and studying feed ingredients is right at 50 years ago. | |
