Crawford, MS 39743 Uniontown OH 44685 | I don’t own any of the cattle or have anything to do with the beans
I was called in to help catch and move the steers
Here’s my question story
Roughly 400 acre pasture that is square that a friend of mine has steers on has a lake in the southwest corner I’d say it’s probably 30 acres or so The levee for the lake is on the property of the owner to the west who has probably 200 acres of crop land under pivots
The lake acts as the fence in the southwest corner of his pasture This has worked fine for years As far as I know he never had one swim away This summer has gotten really dry and he went to pumping water on his beans and I mean pumping pretty much drained the lake
Of course now with the lake dry and no fence it took till yesterday for them to walk across and go start eating nice lush beans
In the dark last night till about 1 in the morning we got them all caught and moved
My question is how much water are you allowed to draw from a source when you have control of the levee?
Just to add the pasture is owned by the state of Mississippi and is 16 section land
I think he has about 10 years left on the lease but could be wrong on that
