Subject: RE: Thread on double alley

Nebraska
My thoughts on a double alley are that they are a good thing if you have some length to your alley and you don’t use your tub as a holding area. If you want both sides to feed even, you will be disappointed, they tend to favor one side. If you are just using your box or tub to put them in the alley and not hold any extras you can maintain your flow into the alley when the first one in decides to stop and plug it up.

If you are going to put twice as many in your tub as what fits in the alley, you might as well just have a single. You’re going to be bumping them along anyway. If you want to give shots in the alley instead of the chute, you also will want a single. I rarely give shots in the alley, much prefer to do that in the chute, so reaching the other side of a double is just with a stick or hotshot if one decided to not roll ahead on their own, in which case the other side is usually passing them until they are the last one anyway. Hotshot or stick use is heavier at the single portion behind the chute than the double leaving the tub.
