Yes, you can do it that way too and works great. Just make a fake second implement and set it as tillage. Then set your recording source off your SCV you use to raise and lower your bar. That way it is still making "documentation" even though your rate controller is off. It's the same concept when setting up a strip freshener, or a planter that is running Precision Planting or other NON - Deere planter.

As far as not sing your strip AutoPath Row data in the planter that is up to you. I usualy have them load both the AutoPath Row and AutoPath boundary (the set that was used in the striptill tractor) files into the planter that way they have both. I've had some guys that have seen AutoPath Rows that "S" some because the strip with an articulated tractor but plant with a front wheel assist.
With that most guys will use the AutoPath Rows for the headlands then switch to AutoPath Boundary file you used to strip with that way your straight passes are more like a straight A-B line but lined up exactly where you put your strips.
