In the first scenario, you will get all the corn acres from that one year. In the 2nd, you will get the ratio of acres planted across those.years like you stated. So if you planted 100 acres of corn just 1 year, that's what you get.
This is not concrete as they haven't officially written the protocol, just my understanding. I may be off on the years they are using, but pretty sure those are the correct years.
