Few years back we used local coops row crop spreader and after prepile in early September spread both dug and undug rows. Worked the dug area and had nice stand. Never saw any growth in spread undug rows after campaign in October. We questioned if barley seed rotted before it could be incorporated in October and that was also a colder October after harvest.

Moisture from leaves and digging I don’t think is enough to sprout seed when you consider how quickly leaves and dirt can dry after a topper pass in a few hours.

Sometimes you need to try to see what doesn’t work and it might take a few repetitions to find what might work.
