Subject: RE: Southern Rust impact on yield

Northern Nebraska
Is it an example of functioning ecosystem? To research then discover rust spores those 175 years back some farmer had to wonder why his corn was turning colors and dying first.

Are we fighting more diseases now? I've sprayed for southern rust exactly twice in my life. Because they happen to be in back to back years doesn't mean anything. Statistics shows us that.

As for soybean aphids everything I can find says they were not in north america until 2000 and took years to span the soybean growing area.

Now asking if biotech crops caused less defensive plants is a different story and question. It's very possible that in the early days of randomly firing genes at some germplasm could have resulted in splices in parts that code for disease resistance but I can find much science to back that up.
