all this means is that green stuff is going to be a whole lot wetter at harvest.

I would say planting date has more to do with the difference you see here than disease.

everyone around me hit their corn with a high priced shot of fungicide, I did not. it all died about the same time. looks the same today.


I was in this field 6 weeks ago and southern rust was up to ear leaf! We highly encouraged fungicide but farmer declined! Went back out when field died in August and farmer wished he’d sprayed! Any corn that died early has spongy ears that didn’t fill kernels! You can twist them apart’.
