Yanny. I see what you are trying to say. This situation is no different than the little scheme that the Colleges have created with student loans. The government has given a group of people the ability to pay X amount...... SO the college prices it right under what that group can just afford. I feel that Crop insurance is following the same play book. It seems that if the government is 7/8's into the insurance game by paying such a big subsidy, that they need to either, just cut out the middle man and send the insurance companies packing, OR... get out of it all together and let it stand on its own. The middleman insurance company has very little skin in the game after being fed by two hands. Can anyone say how much was paid out by MPCI vs how much was collected by them over the last 10 years? Im guessing that information is as available and accurate as UDSA yield and carryover reports.
