Subject: Crop Insurance Subsidies

Michigan
Why does the farmer not raise this issue. On my bill for one county the total bill is $140,000 the government subsidy is $104,000 my bill is $36,000 plus they say there’s an additional administrative fee paid on my behalf for $14,000 and that will go up if they have a lot of claims. Why can’t I self insure and pocket the subsidy? We are in a higher risk area but this is outrageous. I’ve had 1/2 my acres pp in 2019 and never got more than $200,000 in insurance. Insurance companies have to making money hand over fist. People have no idea how mich the government is subsidizing farmers. The direct payments aren’t 1/2 of it.
