See above post, we don't know exactly how much below 10 yr aph he is. Could only be a bushel, we don't really know as it wasn't disclosed. What if he was only 1 bushel off 10yr aph? Is $9.80/acre gonna break him? Yes it sucks price is low and yields aren't best ever, I get it, but to run a budget off of last years yields that were some of best yields is just unrealistic. My point being is 70 bushel beans are still a respectable yield.
Most farmer I believe are realistic about using smaller numbers than record yields to start with. However the market is told all the time records coming now, next year, year after and so on. Then lower yields for farmer and low prices equal not such a great time. At 70 bushels and about 9.75 cash price now thats only 682 an acre. All places are different but that does not work here! |
