Understand all the comments and who knows whose responsible, tariffs have been very hard on cotton and rice exporters , very hard , it’s also very hard to farm in the Midsouth without being someone who covers a lot of acres , in my opinion farmers trying to make a living and advancement in their fiscal well being are some very intense feeling folks , especially for their families and families land , not knowing where to turn in times like those guys are in is no fun , btdt, January 4 th 1980 I had my whole corn crop in the bins , on January 6th 1980 our local elevator removed their quote for corn price and said no sales till markets resettled, if you don’t know what happened on January 4 th 1980 by jimmy carter , google it , I don’t need to I know what happened, I also lost 40000 in three days on that corn in the bins , early in my career and thought I was sunk , but we made it ,a lot of those guys will too .

I don't need to know what happened. I lived it also. I was young but that period forever changed my approach to major farming purchases. Mostly land and rent but always equipment. Sort of the "what if" syndrome. I have always looked at markets and rain as a glass half empty, not half full. I hope all whole new generation isn't going to learn the lessons we learned during that period. Thing don't look good.

The boomers teaching Jr the ropes but making sure they never knew what struggle was isn’t going to do anyone any favors

The only thing that we know about history is that we don't know anything about history. Ive had many dipsticks on here say that this current period isn't anything like the 80's. So I quit mentioning it. Young guys were sick of hearing from us old farts.
