Subject: RE: Filling old bins

North west MN
Well right now the wheat has been cooled and dry and was in a 55,000 bushel bin that I can use for beans i have time now to fill 15 little 3600 and 4000 bushel bins. During bean harvest my son and I run combines and dont have capable truck drivers to move an auger and close the bin doors every 3.5 semi loads 3 times a day. Normally I forward contract 50 percent of my beans but haven't had a decent price to do so yet. The terminal that i usually contract beans at are full of beans and with 6 milion beans on hand now and no export orders in the future there is not much hope in being able to sell beans and they will not offer storage and the basis for beans is minus 1.50 to minus 1.75 normal basis here at harvest is minus.50 to minus 70. Several farmers in the same boat this year a huge wind storm destroyed many grain facilities the storm covered a wide swath for hundreds of miles. i lost a 55000 bushel bin in that wind storm this summer and a neighbor lost all 8 of his 65,000 bushel bins so storage is a big problem. I'm going to have to fill my machinery sheds with corn.
