| My son rents a couple farms that has a high power transmission lines going across them. Put in in the ‘50s & have been told the landowners got $150 one time payment per tower. Right of way underneath is 100’. They have the right to come on the easement anytime they wish, destroy crops if need be though they do pay damages.
Three years ago they did a major repair job, made a mess of things. Had 5 axle aerial trucks that they pulled through the fields with dozers, talk about ruts, couldn’t cross them with a 4 wh drive tractor. Sill seeing crop damage Even nicer, lines run across the fields on an angle
If you’re looking for a big payday, believe me it’s not worth the headaches. Stray voltage as mentioned. I’ve seen my son put to his knees once when she stepped off a tractor in a rain storm & he wasn’t even under the wires. Only good thing I can say about them is crops usually seem to do better directly under them.
If at all possible I’d tell them to take a hike. If that’s not possible get all you can get because you’re going to have to live with the headaches the rest of your life | |
