| Awesome to see
Years ago when our kids were home our backyard became the Friday night post football game hang out
Home or away games didn’t matter
Kids showed up and had a fire in the fire pit
August to late Nov every Friday up to 100 kids just hanging out
We established a few rules
A no drinking or other contraband
B clean up after yourselves
C EVERYONE is welcome from the school
If someone needs to spend the night no problem just keep your parent/guardian informed
First couple of nights both county and state LEO stopped to see what was going on. After that they just drove by. A few times the younger LEO would stop and talk with the kids
Parents to this day still thank us for opening our place as they knew where their kids were and didn’t worry
Kids always policed themselves and we never had an issue. They cleaned up their stuff plus
We provided some food. Generally sliders but it seemed everyone brought something
Kids friends still talk about the memories they had
Truthfully since we became empty nesters I miss those nights
Never participated in the bonfire/hangout time but going to bed hearing the kids talking singing and just enjoying their friends was comforting
