Central IL | The reason for the vent chutes was to provide airflow under the shingles to prevent heat buildup. So if you do not have asphalt shingles then the air chutes are a non issue. If you have survived with shingles and no chutes maybe the building science people are full of it or there was never enough pushed against the roof to be an issue as there would be with modern blown insulation 14” or so deep. | |
