I don't know anything about nut trees, at all. Fruit trees tend to be really brittle and damage easily. That said, they are meant to be pruned hard and recover well. I'd say those pecans as little as they are, would recover and heal in 2-3 years, but I don't know. There are many good resources to find out, seek them out. Better to get new ones started soon if that's what needs to be done. At the very least, those will be more prone to bugs and disease
