Not sure there is a correct answer.
What I have learned though, is it is way easier to kill it when it is 12” tall than it is when it is 2” tall. Especially if it is planted first. The smaller it is, some will get hidden under leaves etc. it is nice to have more leaf area to absorb the glyphosate.
