| So far have never had significant problems with slugs in beans, and not sure why. Thinking if I was farther East in location I would.
I typically seed c. rye on the low side, usually around 30#/acre which reduces slug risk versus higher rates.
Got dry enough terminated c. rye earlier than I would have preferred to be on the safe side.
Was sure nice to drill without the major dust issues some of the tilled acres had this spring.
Last year bought a 38' pasture type harrow (fuerst) at auction, but it was new and I thought cheap. Why? Well, mainly just in case I run into a wet spring that runs into planting in June and it's still on the too wet side. Think I could greatly reduce any slitting in issues by using harrow a few hours after planting or drilling, or maybe the next day or two with beans post drilling.
