Subject: RE: home heat machinery

south east SD
For me I’d do away with all the fancy ways to heat and cool your home.
For me in rural SD electric power is a concern. I have lived in my house for over 60 years and getting heat on a cold winter day with no power is a problem. It’s happened 3 times where we lost power for around a week.
I have a simple LP furnace and water heater. I can run the furnace with a simple 3500 watt generator, water heater needs no power at all with natural ventilation.
I’m now have a 9000 watt generator the I can plug into my transformer (green box) with a disconnect to make it easier to hook up.
As of yesterday rural electric ran new bigger poles and wires by my house to connect power from 3 different substations by back feeding. The old poles were put in the 40’s or 50’s? I’ll have to ask my 81 year old sister if see can remember when the power came by.
The power concerns aren’t because our rural electric supplier is bad, they are very good and well run. As of yesterday I feel the need of a generator will be less with the new poles, wires and the ability to back feed.

Good luck
