Wisconsin | If you buy your propane direct, and can store it, that will be the cheapest. I've never had the prices that I see on here available to me, so electric ground source heat pump is usually cheapest per unit, but quite an investment, and can be a service hassle also. It will provide excellent high efficient air conditioning also.
Building new, especially if going with a ground source heat pump, you can make the building so tight that you need much less heat or cooling than a typical building, even a new one built to the minimum code, it doesn't take much to get there. A ground source heat pump may not make sense in that case, an air to air may be a better payback even though it wouldn't be quite as efficient. | |
