Subject: Why is this silage funny colored


Western Iowa
Seems like most years I find streaks of silage that will almost look like green chop. I found by accident it can kill young calves before I got a mixer wagon

Got into a little vein of it the other day and took a couple of pics.

I want to think it is a packing problem, but it is usually very close to the bottom of the pile and I pack with a FWA tractor at 36k pounds.
