Subject: RE: Silage during calving

Central Nebraska
My cows are usually on cornfield until they calve, barring bad weather. After calving they go in a corn silage, alfalfa, and stalks diet. When I check calves every morning I pay attention to how the cow poo is looking. If it's not somewhat solid, I'll turn down the alfalfa a pound or 2. Cows usually get about 35lb/hd of this mix.
